Artist

Norman Mathieson studied Fine Art at Dundee and later completed his degree in Fine Art Printmaking, at Glasgow School of Art. He has held positions of Visiting Lecturer and Visiting Artist at academic institutions in the North.

Norman’s work is held by a number of collections in the UK, both commercial and private. He has won many awards including from the British Council – for travel to Arizona, and to Mumbai and Baroda – from the Nagasawa Art Park, Japan - for residency and workshop - and from the Scottish Arts Council – for research and development. He has shown his work all over the world including in Japan, Slovenia and India. He currently lives and works in Japan.

Norman was part of the original Northern Print team joining in 1994 before the studio opened in 1995. He worked alongside Anna Wilkinson in the studio teaching workshops, providing technical support and editioning artists prints.
