2012 Moutard is a 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs

A particularly strong release from Moutard from the outstanding 2012 vintage.  Jancis Robinson says of the 2012 vintage – “An exceptional vintage in Champagne. Despite low yields thanks to frost, hail and disease early in the season, August saw conditions improve dramatically resulting in exemplary maturity, acidity and grape health at harvest.”

Moutard are located in Côte des Bar.  This area is close to, and shares a similar soil profile to Chablis and is characterised by an oceanic/continental climate and soil animated by a Kimmeridgian band. It is made up of a succession of marls and clay limestone aged from 152 to 157 million years old, renowned for their extensive marine fossils and Exogyra Virgula fossilised oysters.
