Truly unique among craftsmen, with a product that reflected regional styles in architecture and adornmen, the riflesmith was honored among artisans. A master gun maker must prove proficient in the trades of a blacksmith, whitesmith, pattern maker, locksmith, woodworker, machinist and silversmith. His shop would be the wellspring of all manner of knowledge and advice. His tools, unique among village craftsmen. To a degree, we are all tools on the workbench of the Master Architect of Creation. Few, however, are forged, tempered and honed by His hand to the degree of Keith Casteel; husband, father, coal miner, engineer, woodsman, artist and rifle smith. Many may call him friend and associate for his circle of life is a broad, far reaching one that has touched the lives of many beyond his personal interaction.
