A moderately toasty nose of fresh and elegant white flower and subtle spice aromas combine with sweet, taut and sleekly muscled flavors that possess both focus and richness on the strikingly long finish that is super intense even among this group of unusually intense wines. I like this for its generosity as well as for the sheer depth of material and while there is enough mid-palate fat to allow the ’04 Bâtard to be approachable now, it will clearly benefit from 6 to 8 years in the cellar first. 93/2010+
