We use the highest quality micronised Resveratrol of 1um size for best absorption and almost 100% purity. We developed (after 6 months of failures) a unique system of ensuring that the concentration we needed stayed stable in the cream. The difficulty of this ingredient is that in good concentrations it tends to make creams unstable.

The best way to keep your skin looking young is to moisturise using creams high in anti-oxidants, maintain a healthy lifestyle without smoking, and to minimize sun exposure to healthy levels.

Our Anti-Ageing Cream takes a two step approach to anti-ageing:

Firstly the oil base mimics the Oil Balance of Young Skin. Moist and supple skin resists forming lines. The main base of the cream is made from Olive Squalene. Squalene is one of the major components of the skin's own oil (sebum). After our early 20's, or skin starts producing less Squalene. Our Anti-Ageing Cream "tops" up the skin's Squalene to maintain the oil balance of young skin. This helps resists lines forming.

Secondly it should supply the type of anti-oxidants to the skin that penetrate and remain stable.

Many would ask 'Why the fuss about anti-oxidants"?

One part of ageing is caused by "free radical damage". Free radicals are molecules that have become short of an electron. To become stable, free radicals seek out other molecules and can take an electron from them. This can cause cell damage leading to skin ageing, amongst other things. Supplying anti-oxidants to the skin helps mop up these free radicals. The difficult part is to ensure that the ingredients get deep enough to function.

The star anti-oxidants for this cream are Resveratrol and Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, both included at the maximum suggested percentage by the supplier.

We cannot say too much here, so we encourage everyone to Google "topical Resevratrol" and "topical Ascobyl Tetraisopalmitate"

Benefits
  • Aqua (H2O's Fancy Name): When we were told that we have to call our purified water “Aqua” we thought they were kidding, but we can’t fight bureaucracy. We aren’t trying to be fancy, but we do need to call our water “Aqua” sometimes. If we used only oils and actives, the cream would feel hot on the skin as the oils coat the skin and it becomes an occlusive. By making this cream with water, the cream penetrates the skin better which is more moisturising, soothing and cooling.
  • Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera): We use a very concentrated extra of Aloe. (100.1)
  • Cetearyl Alcohol (Plant Based Emulsifying Wax): Cetearyl alcohol is a Plant-Based Emulsifying Wax emulsified, stabilised and produced from the reduction of plant oils and natural waxes. It’s used for combining oil and water.
  • Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier): A lot of our customers are small. So small in fact that they have sometimes mistaken the creams their mums or dad’s put on the nappy change table for food. So we always choose the most edible ingredients we can. Polysorbates are used in a lot of foods like Mayonnaise, Ice-cream etc to hold the cream and water together. We use them to help with the same thing.
  • Squalane (Olive): Olive squalane is produced from olives. Squalane enhances skin elasticity and moisture retention. It is also a unique antioxidant that protects our skin from free-radical damages. Olive squalane's composition is very similar to human sebum (oil) and can penetrate our skin very quickly to help our skin to fight dryness. Squalane is not to be confused with squalene, which is a form of shark liver oil and tends to quickly oxidize when exposed to the air.
  • Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Oil: Apricot Seed Oil is a finely textured oil, easily absorbed by the skin without leaving it feeling oily or greasy. It is particularly helpful for dehydrated, delicate, mature and sensitive skin. Apricot Seed Oil is rich in oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids.
  • Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil: Rice Bran Oil is extracted from the outer layer of rice. Rich in anti-oxidants, it is also a skin protectant, rich in gamma-oryzanol helping to replenish your skin.
  • Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil: Grape Seed Oil is a lightly textured oil, excellent for moisturising the skin. It is very high in antioxidants and contains high amounts of vitamin E, vitamin C, Beta-Carotene, and vitamin D.
  • Dimethyl Sulfone (MSM Organic Sulphur): MSM is an Organic Sulphur compound which is present in every cell of the body. MSM has been proven to be a great skin softener for very sensitive skin. Often used in many anti-ageing cosmetic applications.
  • Caprylic Capric Triglyceride (Silky Natural Ester): Fractionated Coconut Oil is a blend of coconut oil and glycerine. It’s considered an excellent emollient and skin-replenishing ingredient as well as being a great natural stabiliser.
  • Allantoin: Allantoin is a skin conditioner that was first purified from Comfrey. Allantoin is thought to help maintain healthy skin by encouraging the removal of dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of healthy skin tissue.
  • Piroctone Olamine (Olamine Salt): Piroctone Olamine is an organic compound. It is a non-irritating anti-yeast ingredient which helps keep the cream free from bacteria and mould.
  • Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate (Oil-Soluble Vitamin C): Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is an oil-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. It’s a powerful antioxidant that slows the rate of free-radical damage (free radicals are unstable molecules that damage collagen and cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles.) Studies have shown Vitamin C to stimulate collagen production as well as promoting a more even skin tone. This form of Vitamin C is absorbed by the skin very easily and is well tolerated by even the most sensitive skin types.
  • Polygonum Cuspidatum (Japanese Knotweed – Resveratrol): Resveratrol is an effective anti-oxidant which may be an important additive to skin products. There is so much iinformation on this ingredient, we invite you to Google "topical Resevratrol".
  • Glyceryl Caprylate (Emollient): Glyceryl Caprylate is an emollient, which has an excellent efficacy against bacteria and yeast and as such makes a great natural preservative for skin care.
  • Vanilla Plantifolia (Vanilla) Fruit Extract: Vanilla extract is used primarily as a sweet fragrance. Vanilla has some antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin firming properties. We use hops to preserve our cream and Vanilla combines well with the hops and other fruit extracts to keep our creams smelling nice.
  • Natural Pear Fragrance: We've learned over the years that although Essential Oils can be great for some people, some are highly sensitive to them. For this reason, we tend to avoid them in our creams. We still want them to smell nice, so we've added a Pear extract which blends with the ingredients to smell great!
  • Pyrus Malus (Apple) Extract: Pyrus Malus (Apple) Extract contains a high level of Vitamin C, and a wide array of beneficial trace minerals. It also does smell amazing, so we put in some of our creams as it combines well with the Hops Extract (our natural preservative).
  • Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E): Natural Vitamin E can be sourced from a variety of plants and seeds, as they are common natural compounds. It has up to twice the bioavailability of synthetic forms. Vitamin E has antioxidant action as well as free radical scavenger properties.
  • Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract: Skin Care needs to stay pure from yeast and mould. That is why ingredients like Parabens etc are used by a lot of companies. These work great at achieving their aim, but a lot of our “customers”prefer products without parabens. We worked for over a year to develop a preservation system based on Hops Extract. All our creams have now been checked for preservative efficacy using the British Pharmacopeia test. We are very proud that we are probably one of the first companies to develop this natural and edible anti-bacterial system into our creams.
