Pierre Clostermann was a French flier who joined the British RAF in WWII becoming one of its most prolific aces.  He collected a DFC and bar, Croix de Guerre, Legion d'Honneur and several American honours along the way.

After the war, Pierre Clostermann wrote 'Le Grande Cirque' (The Big Show), a successful book which also became a successful movie. He was later to become ferociously anti-war and was pilloried by sections of the notoriously, viciously half-witted British press. This painting by Paul Lengelle decorated the cover of the April 1949 'Salon de l'Aviation' issue of French magazine 'l'Illustration'. It shows Pierre Clostermann in the RAF Tempest destroying a Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf.

We’ve blown it up to A2 size (c.420 x 590 mm) and produced a limited run of 15 prints on heavy textured art paper, title embossed, and we’ve even retained some of the original patina.
