The colors and pattern of this rug immediately made me think of The Megève Calvary. Which is something out of a French storybook.

My exes family had a ski condo right at the base of the ski slope. If you looked down the mountain, behind the condo, was the "Calvert" is what we called it in French. Come to find it is known as the Calvary and is one historically significant mofo.

As you walk down the mountain, through the stations of the cross, the work of one man, Father Ambroise Martin, the parish priest of Megève from 1820 to his death. In an idyllic setting, it is composed of 15 chapels and oratories depicting the stations of the Way of the Cross from Jerusalem to Golgotha. The different religious edifices, combining all the architectural styles of the past, are home to about 50 life size painted wooden statues together with frescoes and "trompe-l'oeil" paintings.

Right past that, nestled at the foot of the mountains, is the quaintest French Village you could ever imagine. Complete with a "underground" Jazz Bar that served pureed rasberry Kir Royales. My Happy Place.
