Single Malt Whisky | India
The Amrut Naarangi is one of the most recognizable and successful experiments from the Indian pioneer Amrut . This single malt takes its name from the Hindi word for orange , and that's no coincidence: part of the maturation takes place in casks that have been previously infused with orange peel .
The whisky is first matured classically in oak in the warm Indian climate, which ensures rapid maturation and intensity. It is then finished in specially treated casks, resulting in a distinctive yet surprisingly balanced style.
The nose reveals orange zest, mandarin, honey, and vanilla , with hints of spice and light wood. The palate is full and vibrant: sweet citrus, candied orange peel, malt, soft spices, and a hint of chocolate . Thanks to the 50% alcohol content, everything remains powerful yet well-integrated. The finish is long, warm, and fresh , with lingering citrus notes.
The Naarangi is not a gimmick, but a well-thought-out and original whisky that has received international acclaim and clearly demonstrates how innovative Amrut dares to be.
