For the Mays family, all paths lead to Texas! Some branches arrived as Texas declared its independence from Mexico and joined the United States of America; other branches came later, in the early 1900s. These Texans mostly traveled through the south from Virginia and the Carolinas into Tennessee and then Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana. Some hailed from farther north: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and even Massachusetts. Their European roots are English, Welsh, Irish German, and Swedish.
