Head Ornaments from Southern Morocco

As worn by the Touareg guedra dancers of southern Morocco and Mauritania, a pair of temporal hair ornaments, amuletic bead-strands comprised of silver, carnelian and phenolic amber. Such amber, increasingly rare and sought-after among vintage jewellery collectors, was a thermo-setting resin produced in Germany between the wars, traded throughout North Africa. Sold singly or as a pair.
