Kyo-Uchiwa is a traditional hand fan from Kyoto, Japan, crafted using delicate techniques passed down through generations.
Unlike ordinary fans, its frame is made with fine bamboo and the fan surface is carefully applied, resulting in a refined and airy design.
Add a touch of Japanese elegance to your space with this unique item—it’s not just functional, but also serves beautifully as home decor or a special gift.
All processes — from shaping the bamboo ribs, to attaching the paper, to the final finishing — are done entirely by hand.
The bamboo is four to five years old and sourced from Tanba, while the paper is handmade kōzo (mulberry) paper from Yatsuo in the Etchū region.
The handle is made from domestically grown woods such as Japanese hemlock (toga) and cedar, with careful selection of materials exclusively sourced from Japan.
