A long tailed tit seen hunting for insects and grubs in bushes during a February cold snap. This is the first time I have seen one of these locally and I was struck by the fact that it is currently on the green list. It highlighted the reality that species not 'at risk' struggle due to a decline in food sources and habitat, even before considering the effects of global warming and accompanying drastic climate changes, already noticeable in the changes to our seasonal weather patterns.
